MAXIM MAX1708 Manual

The MAX1708 sets a new standard of space savings for high-power, step-up DC-DC conversion. It delivers up to 10W at a fixed (3.3V or 5V) or adjustable (2.5V to 5.5V) output, using an on-chip power MOSFET from a +0.7V to +5V supply. Fixed-frequency PWM operation ensures that the switching noise spectrum is constrained to the 600kHz fundamental and its harmonics, allowing easy postfiltering for noise reduction. External clock synchronization capability allows for even tighter noise spectrum control. Quiescent power consumption is less than 1mW to extend operating time in battery-powered systems. Two control inputs (ONA, ONB) allow simple push-on, push-off control through a single momentary push-button switch, as well as conventional on/off logic control. The MAX1708 also features programmable soft-start and current limit for design flexibility and optimum performance with batteries. The maximum RMS switch current rating is 5A. For a device with a higher (10A) switch current rating, refer to the MAX1709 data sheet.

MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS MAX8556/MAX8557 handbook

The MAX8556/MAX8557 are low-dropout linear regulators that can operate from input voltages as low as 1.425V and deliver up to 4A of continuous output current with a typical dropout voltage of only 100mV. The output voltage is adjustable from 0.5V to VIN - 0.2V. These regulators use an internal p-channel MOSFET pass transistor, resulting in a low supply current of 800µA typical, independent of the load current and dropout voltage. The use of a p-channel MOSFET eliminates the need for an additional external supply or a noisy internal charge pump. Additional features include logic-controlled shutdown mode, built-in soft-start, short-circuit protection with foldback current limit, and thermal overload protection. The MAX8556 features a POK output that transitions high when the regulator output is within ±10% of its nominal output voltage. The MAX8557 offers a power-on reset output that transitions high 140ms after the output has achieved 90% of its nominal output voltage. The MAX8556/MAX8557 are available in a 16-pin thin QFN 5mm x 5mm package with exposed paddle.

MAXIM MAX8516/MAX8517/MAX8518 Manual

The MAX8516/MAX8517/MAX8518 is a low-dropout linear regulator that operates from input voltages as low as 1.425V and is able to deliver up to 1A of continuous output current with a maximum dropout voltage of only 200mV. The output voltage can be set from 0.5V to (VIN - 0.2V) and is 1.4% accurate over load and line variations, from 0°C to +85°C. These regulators use small, 1µF ceramic input capacitors and 4.7µF ceramic output capacitors to deliver 1A output current. High bandwidth provides excellent transient response and limits the output voltage deviation to 45mV for a 20mA to 1A load step, with only a 4.7µF ceramic output capacitor, and the voltage deviations can be reduced further by increasing the output capacitor. Designed with an internal p-channel MOSFET pass transistor, the MAX8516/MAX8517/MAX8518 feature low 340µA (typ) supply current during dropout conditions. Soft-start reduces inrush current. Other features include a logic-controlled shutdown mode, short-circuit protection, and thermal-overload protection. The MAX8517 features a power-OK (POK) output that transitions high when the regulator output is within ±10% of its nominal output voltage. The MAX8518 features a 150ms power-on reset output. The parts are packaged in a 10-pin µMAX® package that includes an exposed pad for optimal power dissipation.

MAXIM MAX4820/4821 Manual

The MAX4820/MAX4821 8-channel relay drivers offer built-in kickback protection and drive +3.3V/+5V non- latching or dual-coil-latching relays. These devices are especially useful when driving +3V relays. Each inde- pendent open-drain output features a 2Ω on-resistance and is guaranteed to sink 70mA (min) of load current. Both devices consume less than 50µA (max) quiescent current and have 1µA output off-leakage current. The MAX4820 features an SPI™-/QSPI™-/MICROWIRE™- compatible serial interface. Input data is shifted into an 8- bit shift register and latched to the outputs when CS transitions from low to high. Each data bit in the shift reg- ister corresponds to a specific output, allowing indepen- dent control of all outputs. The MAX4821 features a 4-bit (A0, A1, A2, LVL) paral- lel-input interface. The first three bits (A0, A1, A2) deter- mine the output address, and the fourth bit (LVL) determines whether the selected output is switched on or off. Data is latched to the outputs when CS transi- tions from low to high. Both devices feature separate set and reset functions that allow the user to turn on or turn off all outputs simul- taneously with a single control line. Built-in hysteresis (Schmidt trigger) on all digital inputs allows this device to be used with slow rising and falling signals, such as those from optocouplers or RC power-up initialization circuits. The MAX4820/MAX4821 are available in 20-pin TSSOP and space-saving 20-pin thin QFN packag

MAXIM MAX4667/MAX4668/MAX4669 Guide

The MAX4667/MAX4668/MAX4669 dual analog switches feature low on-resistance of 2.5Ω max. On-resistance is matched between switches to 0.5Ω max and is flat (0.5Ω max) over the specified signal range. Each switch can handle Rail-to-Rail® analog signals. The off-leakage cur- rent is only 5nA max at +85°C. These analog switches are ideal in low-distortion applications and are the pre- ferred solution over mechanical relays in automatic test equipment or applications where current switching is required. They have low power requirements, use less board space, and are more reliable than mechanical relays. The MAX4667 has two normally closed (NC) switches, the MAX4668 has two normally open (NO) switches, and the MAX4669 has one NC and one NO switch that guarantee break-before-make operation. These switches operate from a +4.5V to +36V single supply or from ±4.5V to ±20V dual supplies. All digital inputs have +0.8V and +2.4V logic thresholds, ensuring TTL/CMOS-logic compatibility when using ±15V sup- plies or a single +12V supply. Applications include reed relay replacement, PBX, PABX systems, test equipment, audio-signal routing, communication systems, and avionics.

MAXIM MAX1110/MAX1111 Manual

The MAX1110/MAX1111 are low-power, 8-bit, 8-channel analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) that feature an internal track/hold, voltage reference, clock, and serial interface. They operate from a single +2.7V to +5.5V supply and consume only 85µA while sampling at rates up to 50ksps. The MAX1110’s 8 analog inputs and the MAX1111’s 4 analog inputs are software-configurable, allowing unipolar/bipolar and single-ended/differential operation. Successive-approximation conversions are performed using either the internal clock or an external serial-interface clock. The full-scale analog input range is determined by the 2.048V internal reference, or by an externally applied reference ranging from 1V to VDD. The 4-wire serial interface is compatible with the SPI™, QSPI™, and MICROWIRE™ serial-interface standards. A serial-strobe output provides the end-of-conversion signal for interrupt-driven processors. The MAX1110/MAX1111 have a software-programmable, 2µA automatic power-down mode to minimize power consumption. Using power-down, the supply current is reduced to 6µA at 1ksps, and only 52µA at 10ksps. Power-down can also be controlled using the SHDN input pin. Accessing the serial interface automatically powers up the device. The MAX1110 is available in 20-pin SSOP and DIP packages. The MAX1111 is available in small 16-pin QSOP and DIP packages.

MAXIM MAX882/MAX883/MAX884 Manual

The MAX882/MAX883/MAX884 linear regulators maximize battery life by combining ultra-low supply currents and low dropout voltages. They feature 200mA output current capability at up to +125°C junction temperature and come in a 1.5W SOIC package. The 1.5W package (compared to 0.47W for standard SOIC packages) allows a wider operating range for the input voltage and output current. The MAX882/MAX883/MAX884 use a P-channel MOSFET pass transistor to maintain a low 11µA (15µA max) supply current from no-load to the full 200mA output. Unlike earlier bipolar regulators, there are no PNP base current losses that increase with output current. In dropout, the MOSFET does not suffer from excessive base currents that occur when PNP transistors go into saturation. Typical dropout voltages are 220mV at 5V and 200mA, or 320mV at 3.3V and 200mA. The MAX882 features a 7µA standby mode that disables the output but keeps the reference, low-battery comparator, and biasing circuitry alive. The MAX883/MAX884 feature a shutdown (OFF) mode that turns off all circuitry, reducing supply current to less than 1µA. All three devices include a low-battery-detection comparator, foldback current limiting, reverse-current protection, and thermal-overload protection. The output is preset at 3.3V for the MAX882/MAX884 and 5V for the MAX883. In addition, all devices employ Dual Mode™ operation, allowing user-adjustable outputs from 1.25V to 11V using external resistors.
