SC16C550 UART device is a universal asynchronous receiver/transmitter (UART) that converts parallel data to serial data, and vice versa. UART can process serial data at speeds up to 3 Mbit/s. SC16C550's pin is compatible with ST16C550, TL16C550 and PC16C550. The function after power-on is equivalent to 16C450. Program control registers can enable more features of SC16C550. Additional features include: 16-byte receive and transmit FIFO, automatic hardware or software flow control, and infrared coding or decoding. In FIFO mode, the optional automatic flow control feature greatly reduces software size and improves system efficiency by automatically controlling the serial data flow using RTS output and CTS input signals. SC16C550 also provides DMA mode data transmission through FIFO trigger points and TXRDY and RXRDY signals. The on-chip status register provides users with error indication, device operating status and modem interface control. System interrupts can be adjusted to meet user requirements. Internal loop mode realizes on-chip fault diagnosis. SC16C550 can operate at 5V, 3.3V and 2.5V voltages and in industrial temperature range, with plastic DIP40, PLCC44 and LQFP48 packages.

The LPC2119/2129/2194/2292/2294 are based on a 16/32-bit ARM7TDMI-S CPU microcontroller that supports real-time simulation and tracing and includes 128/256k bytes (kB) of embedded high-speed Flash memory. A 128-bit-wide memory interface and a unique acceleration structure enable 32-bit code to run at maximum clock speed. Applications with strict code size control can reduce code size by more than 30% using the 16-bit Thumb mode with little performance loss. Due to the LPC2119/2129/2194/2292/2294's smaller 64- and 144-pin packages, extremely low power consumption, multiple 32-bit timers, 4-channel 10-bit ADCs, 2/4-channel CAN (64-pin and 144-pin packages) and up to 9 external interrupts, they are particularly suitable for industrial control, medical systems, access control and POS machines. In a 64-pin package, up to 46 GPIOs can be used. In a 144-pin package, GPIOs up to 76 (using external memory) ~ 112 (single-chip applications) can be used. Due to the built-in wide range of serial communication interfaces, they are also very suitable for communication gateways, protocol converters, embedded soft modems and various other types of applications.
