MAXIM DS75LV Digital Thermometer Thermostat Manual

DS75LV is a low-voltage (1.7V to 3.7V) digital thermometer and thermostat that provides 9-, 10-, 11-, or 12-bit digital temperature readings over a -55°C to +125°C range with ±2°C accuracy over a -25°C to +100°C range. At power-up, the DS75LV defaults to 9-bit resolution for software compatibility with the LM75. Communication with the DS75LV is achieved through a simple 2-wire serial interface. Three address pins allow up to eight DS75LV devices to operate on the same 2-wire bus, which greatly simplifies distributed temperature- sensing applications. The DS75LV thermostat has a dedicated open-drain output (O.S.) and programmable fault tolerance, which allows the user to define the number of consecutive error conditions that must occur before O.S is activated. There are two thermostatic operating modes that control thermostat operation based on user-defined trip-points (TOS and THYST). A block diagram of the DS75LV is shown in Figure 1 and detailed pin descriptions are given in Table 1.

The DS1307 serial real-time clock (RTC) is a low-power, full binary-coded decimal (BCD) clock/calendar plus 56 bytes of NV SRAM. Address and data are transferred serially through an I2C, bidirectional bus. The clock/calendar provides seconds, minutes, hours, day, date, month, and year information. The end of the month date is automatically adjusted for months with fewer than 31 days, including corrections for leap year. The clock operates in either the 24-hour or 12-hour format with AM/PM indicator. The DS1307 has a built-in power-sense circuit that detects power failures and automatically switches to the backup supply. Timekeeping operation continues while the part operates from the backup supply. Typical operating circuit.

MAXIM DS1284/DS1286 Watchdog Timekeepers Manual

DS1284/DS1286 is an integrated clock, alarm, watchdog timer and timer interval in a 28-pin JEDEC DIP and encapsulated DIP package. It contains an embedded lithium energy source and a quartz crystal, which eliminates the need for any external circuitry. DS1284 requires an external quartz crystal and a VBAT source, which could be a lithium battery. Data contained within 64 8-bit registers can be read or written in the same manner as byte-wide static RAM. Data is maintained in the watchdog timekeeper by intelligent control circuitry that detects the status of VCC and write protects memory when VCC is out of tolerance. The lithium energy source can maintain data and real time for over 10 years in the absence of VCC. Watchdog timekeeper information includes hundredths of seconds, seconds, minutes, hours, day, date, month, and year. The date at the end of the month is automatically adjusted for months with fewer than 31 days, including correction for leap year. The DS1284/DS1286 operate in either 24-hour or 12- hour format with an AM/PM indicator. The devices provide alarm windows and interval timing between 0.01 seconds and 99.99 seconds. The real-time alarm provides for preset times of up to one week.

MAXIM DS4106/DS4212/DS4425 106.25MHz/212.5MHz/425MHz Clock Oscillators Manual

The DS4106, DS4212, and DS4425 ceramic surface-mount crystal oscillators are part of Maxim’s DS4-XO series of crystal oscillators. These devices offer output frequencies at 106.25MHz, 212.5MHz, and 425MHz. The clock oscillators are suited for systems with tight tolerances because of the jitter, phase noise, and stability performance. The small package provides a format made for applications where PCB space is critical. These clock oscillators are crystal based and use a fundamental crystal with PLL technology to provide the final output frequencies. Each device is offered with LVDS or LVPECL output types. The output enable pin is active-high logic. These clock oscillators have very low phase jitter and phase noise. Typical phase jitter is < 0.9ps RMS from 12kHz to 20MHz. The devices are designed to operate with a 3.3V ±10% supply voltage, and are available in a 5.0mm x 3.2mm x 1.49mm, 10-pin LCCC surface-mount ceramic package.

MAXIM MAX786 Dual-Output Power-Supply Controller for Notebook Computers Manual

The MAX786 is a system-engineered power-supply controller for notebook computers or similar battery-powered equipment. It provides two high-performance step-down (buck) pulse-width modulators (PWMs) for +3.3V and +5V. Other features include dual, low-dropout, micropower linear regulators for CMOS/RTC back-up, and two precision low-battery-detection comparators. High efficiency (95% at 2A; greater than 80% at loads from 5mA to 3A) is achieved through synchronous rectification and PWM operation at heavy loads, and Idle ModeTM operation at light loads. The MAX786 uses physically small components, thanks to high operating frequencies (300kHz/200kHz) and a new current-mode PWM architecture that allows for output filter capacitors as small as 30µF per ampere of load. Line- and load-transient responses are terrific, with a high 60kHz unity-gain crossover frequency allowing output transients to be corrected within four or five clock cycles. Low system cost is achieved through a high level of integration and the use of low-cost, external N-channel MOSFETs. Other features include low-noise, fixed-frequency PWM operation at moderate to heavy loads, and a synchronizable oscillator for noise-sensitive applications such as electromagnetic pen-based systems and communicating computers. The MAX786 is a monolithic, BiCMOS IC available in fine-pitch, surface-mount SSOP packages.
