Linear Technology has developed a line of µModule isolators that simplifies the design of isolated systems by simply plugging in a module, without the need for complex barrier components. µModule isolators use magnetically coupled techniques to provide data and power isolation in a single package, without the need for external components. The LTM2881 isolated RS485/RS422 transceiver and LTM2882 dual isolated RS232 transceivers use µModule isolator technology to provide complete transceiver-plus-power solutions in 15mm × 11.25mm × 2.8mm surface mount packages.
