intersil EL1526 Manual

Update: 29 September, 2023

The EL1526 is a dual channel differential DSL line driver designed for high performance ADSL applications using Centillium's Maximus CO chipset. It supports the use of ADSL downstream spectrum up to 3.75MHz, which is beyond the traditional 1.1MHz range. With the High-Bit-Loading (HBL) feature of the Maximus CO chipset, payload rates up to 50Mbps can be achieved in the extended spectrum. This feature allows DMT tones to carry more than 15 bits per tone, resulting in higher performance ADSL services. The EL1526 is an integral part of the signal chain for HBL, optimized for flat gain response and reduced harmonic distortion and noise in the bands of interest. It eliminates the need for external common mode snubber filters in active termination applications with its unique internal compensation circuit. The drivers achieve a total harmonic distortion (THD) measurement of typically -64dB @ 2.2MHz, while consuming typically 5mA per DSL channel of total supply current. The supply current can be set using a resistor on the IADJ pin, and four pre-set modes (full-IS, 3/4-IS, 1/2-IS, and full power-down) can be selected using the C0 and C1 pins. The EL1526 operates on ±5V to ±12V supplies and maintains its bandwidth and linearity over the complete supply range. The device is supplied in a small footprint package.
